All photographs are there to remind us of what we forget. In this -- as in other ways -- they are the opposite of paintings. Paintings record what the painter remembers. Because each one of us forgets different things, a photo more than a painting may change its meaning according to who is looking at it.

Too funny! Today I saw a stuffed polar bear leaning out of the car window like he was enjoying the beautiful sunshine. I so wanted to take it's photo but a small child was attached to the other end of that polar bear. I figured the wrong impression might be taken if I asked to snap a photo. One never knows....
